Could This be a SIGN?? haha
Well, I went to Kohl's and they had a stuffed dog with a scarf on, the scarf has 2006 on it. Well, 2006 is YEAR OF THE DOG! So, My guess is that Alison (& Susan) have been born. Okay, Is this a sign or what?? Now, Russ and I go into CVS in Athens on Sunday (12-24-06) to get some Cokes. And WHAT TO MY WONDERING EYES DID APPEAR, BUT TWO LITTLE PANDA'S DRESSED IN CHINESE GEAR! I searched and searched for any others but alas there were none. So I peaked over the self and caught Russell's attention and just held then up with a BIG smile on my face and said...LOOK WHAT I FOUND! I took them up to him and He said, Let's get them! So Home they went and Under the tree they go. We are HOPEFULL they will make their trip to China Next year, One for Susan and one for Alison Rose!Merry Christmas Everyone!!God Bless you and keep you!

Twas The Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas
When all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.
The stocking were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The Children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads;
And Momma in her kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winters nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moom on the breast of the new fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a minature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted and called them by name...
Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now Prancer and Vixen!
On Comet! On Cupid!, On Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now Dash Away! Dash Away! Dash Away all!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof.
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Doen the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his feet,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes- how they twinkled! His dimples- how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of his pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and blump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings;
Then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh,
To his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim,
As he drove out of sight;
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!"

Getting in the Christmas Spirit!
WOW What do you say to a husband that has gone CHRISTMAS SHOPPING with you 2 saturday's in a row??
I was in a "slump" (or in the "funk" as one of my friends put it) this year for Christmas. I was in the mood, I was out of the mood. Now I am back in the mood for Christmas. I told one of my friends from my Athens, AL FCC group I would put a picture of my "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree on the blog. So here it is. It's not that bad for a 4 1/2 foot pre-lit tree.
Anyway, From Our House To Your House......
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Athens Chirstams Parade & Athens FCC PotLuck
Hello everyone!! What a time we have had so far this week! We went to the Athens Christmas parade on thursday and froze our toes! haha We only lasted 1 hour. We went with my friend Elizabeth and her son Andrew. I think we had more fun tring to keep Andrew under the covers than watching the parade! lol
On friday we had our first annual Christmas Pot Luck with out Athens, Al Families with Children from China group. We had a light crowd. But with the holidays just around the corner we had a nice turn out with 5 families. We had good food and fellowship, what more can you ask for!? Here is Emma Fu (with her head down)and Gracie Mei (in the pink hoody) giving each other a hug under the Christmas tree. ( I missed Gracie giving Emma a kiss on the cheek right after I took this photo)

New Books for Alison
Well, Alison's library is getting big. I bought more books in honor of our 7 month LID anniversary. So, If you go to Books a Million in Jones Valley you WILL NOT FIND ANYMORE " I Love You Like Crazy Cakes" books. I bought the last one!! Target has a very cute soft side book that is a lady bug, That's the one in the back. The small books I got from AVON. You put your child's picture in the back of the book for him/her to look at while you read the book. We belong to Disney's book of the month club, so every 3 to 4 weeks Alison get's 3 new books. That's it for now.

A Day With Andrew Howard
Today I got to go see Andrew in a Thanksgiving Program put on by his Day Care/School. He was an Indian. The show was wonderful!! Afterwards they had a feast with all the children and their family and friends. I saw two families from my Church there to see their grandchildren. I got to meet Deela, a new friend from my Athens, AL Families with Children from China group.
Andrew came home with me from school. We had lots of fun. Although we didn't get to do ANYTHING I wanted to do! ha ha I wanted us to make his Mommy, My friend, Elizabeth a homemade birthday card. But he didn't want to do that. He saw the GameCube and that was that! We played race car games till his Dad came picked him up. I wouldn't have changed a thing from my day, It was perfect!
Thank You Andrew for spending the day with me. I hope you had as much fun as I did!!!
Love You, Auntie Lisa

In Remembrance of My Friend Susan Groce
Two years ago today, November 10th 2004. I lost one of my Best Friends in a one car accident on Mooresville Rd in Athens, AL. Susan left behind her Husband Clint and their 3 year old daughter at that time, Emma. Susan has one older sister, Elizabeth (who is now a very dear and special friend to me) and a younger sister, Rebecca. She has 2 very cute nephews and Wonderful parents!
Take a moment in your life to let your friends and loved ones know how much you love them!
To all my friends and family who are reading this, I Love you Very Much!
Never let a day go by that you don't tell your Husband, Children, Parents, Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends know how much you love them. Tell them every chance you can get!

Red Thread and a Lady bug sighting
"The Red Thread" is a symbolic saying very popular among families adopting from China. The Red Thread is an old Chinese saying that means when babies are born they are already connected to the important people in his/her life by a red thread. This thread can be twisted or stretched, but not broken.
The Red Thread is an important symbol of being connected during the time that families wait for their referrals. Even during the time of paperwork chase, it gives families some feeling of connection that no matter what the red thread will not break.
The color “red” in general is a popular color associated with Asian styles. Maybe that is why another symbol that adopting families talk about is the ladybug. On websites that offer personal adoption stories, it is common to see “the red thread” spoken about as well as stories of people seeing “ladybugs” as a sign of good luck.
Today I had lunch with Lisa. While we were waiting for our food to arrive I notice a ladybug on the window directly behind her. As she turned around to get a look, I noticed another one a ittle higher up the window. There were two ladybuds right in front of us. I think Lisa and I both believed it to be a sign of our waiting daughter(s).
By the way, I think it is only fair to mention that there is a slight possibility that we may be referred twins. In that case, we do have another name picked out.
Susan Renee
Sometimes I feel Susan Renee does not get enough mention either when we talk of pending adoption or on this blog. So for this post all the attention goes to Susan Renee. Say hello to Susan everybody!
This name has a special meaning for Lisa and I will leave it up to her if she wants to share it.

6 Month LID Anniversary!!
Well, 6 months down and The Good Lord above only knows how many more to go. October 29th was our 6 month anniversary on our LID (Log In Date for those of you who do not know what that means) To me, the time has gone by so very fast. But to Russ it has gone by very slow.
Last night, November 3rd, 2006. We drove to Birmingham to a waiting family information meeting with other families from Villa Hope (Our Adoption Agency) We had a very nice time, and got to meet other families who are waiting to go get their sweet little children from China and Guatemala.
Hopefully this time next year I will be posting Alison Rose in her Halloween costume! She already has 3 to choose from! She can be Snow White, An Alabama Cheerleader, or heaven forbid an Auburn Cheerleader. Complete with mega phone and pom poms!
Well, that about does it for now.....Thanks for following our journey to Alison Rose.
Till next time, Lisa

Moon Festival
I almost forgot something..... I got to be a judge for a Chili Cook off on Thursday, October 12th for one of my customers from work. Here Lisa Murphy, Tiffany Winters and Myself pose with chili in our hands! Thanks S E A Wire and Cable for inviting us to come in and judge this years winners. We had a hard time picking the winner and runner up. But had fun doing it!
Yesterday, Saturday October 14th. I went and spent the day with my Best Friend, Shana. We went to lunch then came back to her house for a jewelry party. I played with the kids and joked around with Shana. Shana and I have been friends for over 25 years.
On Saturday October 7th, My Nephew Calvin came and spent the night with us. On our way home from picking him up we had to stop by the grocery store. He wanted to carve a pumpkin so we got one and he carved it when we got home. Afterwards, Uncle Russell took him over to the golf course in front of our house and tried to teach him how to play golf. The next day after church, Russ went to play golf with a friend from our FCC group. They let Calvin go with them, which was a big treat for Calvin. Calvin won! Hummmm I wonder how a small kid who doesn't even really know how to play golf beat two grown men that play ALL THE TIME!!??!!
Well, This has been a very busy 2 weeks. On Friday, October 6th we had our 1st annual Moon Festival for our Athens, AL FCC group. We had food, a moon bounce, and a lantern parade at dark. Our Little FCC Family grows a little each month. Russ and I ALWAYS have a blast playing with ALL the children. Next year Our little Ali Rose will be there!!

Welcome Home Lily Grace
What a Wonderful day!! I started out the day with watching my nephew play ball, then ended the day with my FCC family.
Tonight we officially welcomed home Lily Grace Green!
We had so much fun. Russ, who is now called stinky shoes by Marci Hall, played with the bigger children outside, while I played with most of the little children inside.
Lily is so beautiful!! As are the rest of the Children!!
The Norman's opened up their home to us, and We thank them very much. We have become very good friends with Max, Kathy and Miss Emma. I can not wait till I bring Alison home to play with Miss Emma and the rest of the children. Alison already has so many new Aunties and Uncles from our FCC Family, I wont have to worry about a BABYSITTER!! Hint Hint!!
Calvin's Baseball Game
Today was a busy day for me. I went to watch my cute little nephew play baseball. We are all so proud of Calvin! We didn't think he would even be able to play this year at all. He had cut his arm very bad and was told that it may take a year or longer to be able to do things with his hand, if he had any use at all. But, he has worked hard. The only question he asked the Doctor was, "Am I gonna get to play baseball this year?" the Doctor told him "he didn't think so." This was very upsetting to my nephew, but look at him now!!! No, he didn't get to play in the regular season. But, he is playing in the fall season...But, HE IS PLAYING THIS YEAR!!

A visit from
MAX, KATHY, & EMMA FU
Tonight we were blessed with some great company!
Our friends, Max, Kathy, and little Miss Emma came over for dinner.
What a treat to play with Emma. She truly enjoyed Alison's toys. They have been inspected and approved! Emma thought it would be fun to sit in the small wooden box that holds some of the toys...It was SO funny to watch her. She got stuck, so her Mommy had to come get her out! I laughed so hard!!
Emma brought Ali a gift that is now hanging over the rail of Ali's bed. A bib that says "Angels watch over me." We think that's what the Chinese writing is also.
Thanks Max, Kathy, & Miss Emma for a very fun night.
We Love You, Russ & Lisa

Happy Labor Day!
Still no news on Alison to report. Russ and I are ready to get her RIGHT NOW!!
I don't know if I can wait 8 to 10 more months! Her room is ready for her. All I have left to do now is start having BABY SHOWERS!! haha I want to go get her High Chair, stroller, Car Seat, and MORE TOYS!! But I was told I couldn't. Everyone gets mad at me when I go get Alison stuff. They all say.... Leave some things for the baby showers! Trust me, I still need a lot of things! haha
We are getting ready to have a Welcome Home Party for The Green's. They are members of our local FCC chapter in Athens. They have been home a month now with their little Lily Grace. She is SOOOOOOO Cute! I know my Alison will be just as Beautiful as Lily is.
Next weekend we are going to have some friends over with their beautiful little Emma Fu! Russ and I can't wait to see Emma playing in Alison's room. Oh I can't wait for Ali to be playing in her room!
Well, Russ turned 42 on the 3rd. He had a nice relaxing day between Church. We went to lunch after Church. He went for a bike ride before evening service then we came home and watched a movie and I baked him a B'day cake. Today (4th) He played golf ALL DAY LONG with our friend Max and some of Max' friends. He got home just in time for dinner! I think he could smell the roast cooking! haha He walked in the door as soon as the timer went off.
We have a busy month this month. I say the more I stay busy, the faster time will go by. And, I get closer and closer to Alison Rose!
I guess that's about all for now.
Hope you have a Wonderful Day!
Love, Lisa

Update (July 3, 2006)
Wow, only two months into our long wait and I am soooo anxious. I am ready to go right now. Lisa seems to be handling the wait much better than I. We both try our best to keep busy and keep our minds off the wait.
There is so much going on right now that could potentially effect our wait time.
First of all I am keeping a close eye on the situation with the North Korean missile test. From what I have read, China looks at North Korea as a sore thumb, but I am sure if things got out of hand that they would side up with them long before siding up with the U.S. Anyway, I am probably reading way too much into this situation but I see it as a potential show stopper for our little Alison if things get out of hand and China cuts off all diplomatic ties with the U.S.
Also I have been following the Rumor Queen web site recently. That is an excellent site for keeping up to date with the current situation with the CCAA as well as getting information from others who are in the process. I just have to take it all with a grain of salt. After all, it is called the "Rumor Queen".
Here is a picture from the CCAA web site that lists the current status of document processing.
As you can see, The CCAA has finished review of documents posted before October 31, 2005 and have placed children with families who had log-in-dates on or before June 28, 2005. Our Log-in-Date is April 29, 2006. We should be in the review room sometime around September or October and are expecting our referral around April or May of 2007. Here is a good explanation of the process that goes on when your documents go to the CCAA.
1. CHI Beijing staff translates your dossier and takes it to the CCAA.
2. Your dossier enters the CCAA administration office and sometimes can wait for 1 month+ to be logged in (ours took 24 days and recent LIDs have been assigned even quicker).
3. Your dossier waits to begin the process. This currently takes 3 to 4 months.
4. The CCAA administration office passes your dossiers to Bridge of Love where they verify your dossier's translation. This process takes from 1 to 2 months.
5. Your dossier is passed to Department I for review. This process takes from 1 to 2 months (Currently they have completed the review of Dossiers registered prior to October 31, 2005).
6. Your dossier is passed to Department II for matching. The length of this step can vary dependent on many factors - mostly by the # of paper-ready children available vs. the # of registered families by LID. It can take from 1 to 6+ months.
7. Once matched, your referral is sent to the administrative office to be signed by all the CCAA directors and sent to CHI. This can take several weeks.
8. You return your acceptance of referral letter to the CCAA.
9. The CCAA sends your travel approval to come to China to complete your adoption. This process takes about 1 month.
The current wait from LID to referral is 12.5 months as of 6/2006, but many are predicting it may even be longer than that.

Alison's new clothes
June 6, 2006
Yesterday my sister came back from a vacation to Hawaii and brought home some clothes for Alison that she just couldn't resist buying.
We also added Alison's name on the wall above her crib.
We are currently active with the local chapter of the FCC (Families with Children from China). Lisa is the Treasurer of the group. We had a dragon boat race festival last weekend and I think that everbody had a good time especially the children. Lisa and I really enjoy getting together with people who have a common bond and just can't wait to attend a gathering with our little Alison. The children of this group are what convinced me that we were doing the right thing. I was a little sceptical until I met the children. My heart just melted the first time I saw them. I knew right then, without a doubt that we were headed down the right path.

LID confirmation
Yesterday we finally got confimation of our login Date (LID) with the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Afairs). We knew that it would take atleast a week or two but we got a call from our adoption agency yesterday (May 18, 2006) and they told us that they got confirmation that were were logged in on April 29, 2006. That is only 5 days after we shipped our dossier to China. It was also a Saturday. If the CCAA is working weekends, that can only mean that our wait will be as short as possible.
Since our agency is telling us that the current wait is approximately 10-12 months and we are already 1 month down, than we consider ourselves pregnant now. Have a look at our sonagram below.
Thanks for the picture Sherri.
All we can do now is wait it out for our referral. That is when the CCAA matches us up with a waiting child and sends us pictures and a medical record of the child along with any other important information they may have on the child. At that point if we except the child (VERY little chance of that not happening) then it will be about 6-8 weeks before we travel to China to finalize the adoption and bring home our special gift.
Alison's room is mostly complete. Lisa wants a closet organizer in there and I still need to put up some shelves on the walls. I have plenty of time to complete those two tasks. All we can do now is past the time the hard part is over.

Alison's room is mostly complete. Lisa wants a closet organizer in there and I still need to put up some shelves on the walls. I have plenty of time to complete those two tasks. All we can do now is past the time the hard part is over.

Finally DTC!! HOORAY!!!
Our dossier was finally shipped to China on April 25, 2006. We have a FedEx tracking number and as I sit here typing this update, our dossier is somewhere over the pacific ocean. It left Anchorage, Alaska this morning at 9:07 AM. In fact it may be on the ground in Beijing by now.
We celebrated last night by going out for Chinese food. Lisa had Beef & Broccoli and I had Chicken & Mushrooms. That is our usuall when have Chinese. We always say that we are going to experiment more but when we get there and it is time to choose we always take the same old thing.
We are expecting to be logged into the CCAA within the next couple of weeks. At that point we are looking at a wait of about 10-12 months. Lets hope and pray that it doesn't go any longer than that. Currently the CCAA is working on placement of children with families that were logged in the second week of June last year. So we basically have 1 year of families ahead of us and will have to work our way to the "top of the pile" so to speak. Last year the CCAA placed over 7,000 children to American families alone. That does not count placements of children to other countries. My best guess is that there are about 12,000 placements before we recieve our referral of Alison Rose. She may or may not even be born at this time. Everything is out of our hands at this point and all we can do is pray that God matches us up with the child of our dreams.
Here is a snapshot of our FedEx tracking information showing our dossier being delivered to the CCAA in Beijing.

Getting into the Chinese culture
To help us get into the Chinese culture, Lisa and I bought a couple of Kites. We have tried to fly them over the last couple of weeks but the wind is just not cooperating. If we go outside with a kite in hand it seems to scare the wind away. Anyway we were able to snap a couple of picture.
The one with the long tail is a serpent and the one that looks like it has wings is a dragon. I can't wait to get another windy day to give them another try.

Almost DTC!
It has been a while since I updated this site. Not a whole lot has happened over the last month or so. Villa Hope (our adoption agency) recieved our Dossier back from the China consulate in Houston, TX on April 18. They are telling us now that they plan on sending it to China on April 25. They said they are waiting on a couple of other Dossier's from other families and will be sending them all over together on April 25. We are very ready to begin the long anticipated wait.
We finally got our crib bedding in. see below.
It is hard to tell from the pictures but there are little roses on the bedding.

The Crib is here!
March 21, 2006
Today we picked up the crib after work. It is the kind that starts off as a crib and coverts to a day bed and eventually a full size bed when the time comes. I went right to work putting it together as soon as I got home. Putting it together was not as bad as I was expecting. Lisa and I had it put together in about 45 minutes. I wish I could make the adoption go that fast and as smooth.
Lisa also ordered some bedding for it today. The pattern is cream colored with roses. Are you starting to get the theme here? Roses!
