We spent the day at Lisa's parents and her family.
We were missing one nephew, Jacob. He was at his Dad's house.
I didn't get to make it to my Aunt Kat's house this year.
But hopefully I will be able to make it to her house at Christmas.
Holiday's at my Aunt Kat's house are some of my most wonderful memories.

A Day With Andrew Howard
Today I got to go see Andrew in a Thanksgiving Program put on by his Day Care/School. He was an Indian. The show was wonderful!! Afterwards they had a feast with all the children and their family and friends. I saw two families from my Church there to see their grandchildren. I got to meet Deela, a new friend from my Athens, AL Families with Children from China group.
Andrew came home with me from school. We had lots of fun. Although we didn't get to do ANYTHING I wanted to do! ha ha I wanted us to make his Mommy, My friend, Elizabeth a homemade birthday card. But he didn't want to do that. He saw the GameCube and that was that! We played race car games till his Dad came picked him up. I wouldn't have changed a thing from my day, It was perfect!
Thank You Andrew for spending the day with me. I hope you had as much fun as I did!!!
Love You, Auntie Lisa

Christmas Shopping has Arrived!
Well, like the heading says, Christmas shopping has arrived! I am on Vacation this week and I have hardly got to spend ANY time at home!! I have been out shopping for a little foster child that we adopted for christmas. I love doing this. This is the 2nd or 3rd year we have done this and it just makes me feel so good to help a little child at christmas get something from "Santa" that he or she has asked for. Next year I will have my sweet little Alison Rose to help me do the shopping for that next little boy or girl! Happy Shopping!! Lisa

In Remembrance of My Friend Susan Groce
Two years ago today, November 10th 2004. I lost one of my Best Friends in a one car accident on Mooresville Rd in Athens, AL. Susan left behind her Husband Clint and their 3 year old daughter at that time, Emma. Susan has one older sister, Elizabeth (who is now a very dear and special friend to me) and a younger sister, Rebecca. She has 2 very cute nephews and Wonderful parents!
Take a moment in your life to let your friends and loved ones know how much you love them!
To all my friends and family who are reading this, I Love you Very Much!
Never let a day go by that you don't tell your Husband, Children, Parents, Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends know how much you love them. Tell them every chance you can get!

Red Thread and a Lady bug sighting
"The Red Thread" is a symbolic saying very popular among families adopting from China. The Red Thread is an old Chinese saying that means when babies are born they are already connected to the important people in his/her life by a red thread. This thread can be twisted or stretched, but not broken.
The Red Thread is an important symbol of being connected during the time that families wait for their referrals. Even during the time of paperwork chase, it gives families some feeling of connection that no matter what the red thread will not break.
The color “red” in general is a popular color associated with Asian styles. Maybe that is why another symbol that adopting families talk about is the ladybug. On websites that offer personal adoption stories, it is common to see “the red thread” spoken about as well as stories of people seeing “ladybugs” as a sign of good luck.
Today I had lunch with Lisa. While we were waiting for our food to arrive I notice a ladybug on the window directly behind her. As she turned around to get a look, I noticed another one a ittle higher up the window. There were two ladybuds right in front of us. I think Lisa and I both believed it to be a sign of our waiting daughter(s).
By the way, I think it is only fair to mention that there is a slight possibility that we may be referred twins. In that case, we do have another name picked out.
Susan Renee
Sometimes I feel Susan Renee does not get enough mention either when we talk of pending adoption or on this blog. So for this post all the attention goes to Susan Renee. Say hello to Susan everybody!
This name has a special meaning for Lisa and I will leave it up to her if she wants to share it.

6 Month LID Anniversary!!
Well, 6 months down and The Good Lord above only knows how many more to go. October 29th was our 6 month anniversary on our LID (Log In Date for those of you who do not know what that means) To me, the time has gone by so very fast. But to Russ it has gone by very slow.
Last night, November 3rd, 2006. We drove to Birmingham to a waiting family information meeting with other families from Villa Hope (Our Adoption Agency) We had a very nice time, and got to meet other families who are waiting to go get their sweet little children from China and Guatemala.
Hopefully this time next year I will be posting Alison Rose in her Halloween costume! She already has 3 to choose from! She can be Snow White, An Alabama Cheerleader, or heaven forbid an Auburn Cheerleader. Complete with mega phone and pom poms!
Well, that about does it for now.....Thanks for following our journey to Alison Rose.
Till next time, Lisa
